Scarlett Johansson is the latest celebrity to join this trend. More than ever, celebrities like Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Millie Bobby Brown have started beauty or skincare lines. While celebrity lines have been criticized for being inauthentic, most of these brands have been able to find a steady group of satisfied customers.
While Johansson is mainly known for acting in movies like Black Widow and Under the Skin, it has been recently announced that the actress is creating a new skincare brand. The unnamed brand is set to launch in early 2022.
Although, the Oscar nominated actress is no stranger with the fashion and beauty world as she was previously the face of L’Oréal Paris and for Dolce& Gabbana’s fragrance, The One. This time, Johansson will be completely creatively in charge of her new line.
What is the unnamed skincare line?
The skincare line will be launched with the help of beauty and fashion executive Kate Foster.Foster has been working in the beauty and fashion industry for decades, her long resume includes formerly being the vice president of global marketing and communications at Juicy Couture and associate vice president at Victoria’s Secret.
However, Johansson will be credited as the co-founder and CEO, but will mainly serve as the founder and chairman. While celebrities starting skincare and makeup lines is nothing new, the actress claims that her skincare line has been in the works for a while now.
She told Good Morning America in a Zoom interview,“I have been developing my own skincare line for the last three years and this last year has really allowed me to spend, dedicate a ton of time to it. It’ll be debuting in January, and it’s been a labor of love, but I’m so excited to share that with the world.”
The skincare line will be funded by The Najafi Companies,a private investment firm that has backed brands like Tracee Ellis Ross’ Pattern Beauty and Millie Bobby Brown’s Florence by Mills. While details like the name of the company and what products will be sold are still unknown to the public, Johansson has given a few hints about the brand.
What will the skincare line focus on?
“I’ve been fascinated by the transformative power of beauty since I was a child. My mother instilled in me a passion for self-care from my early teenage years. Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me. The result is a clean, accessible approach to beauty,” said Johansson said in a statement.
The line will also apparently be focused on minimalism and simple. Which is the perfect mind set to have when creating skincare. The actress told Allure,“This will be a brand for everyone who wants their skin to look its best with minimal effort.”
While major details surrounding the skincare line itself has not been shared with the public yet,we can not wait to see what the talented actress comes out with!
